2023 Acura MDX - What’s New?
The Acura MDX 2023 range takes the luxury class three-row SUV market to a new level with standard AcuraLink Services now in all models, a more polished appearance, increased spacious interior, better accurate and lighter steering capabilities, and the inclusion of a V6 engine.
Acura has also installed its first-ever air suspension in the Type S trim with variable riding heights available, depending on which drive mode you choose. We’ve completed an in-depth report of the 2023 Acura MDX to help you choose the best trim suited to your needs and driving habits.
Trims and Pricing
The MDX Acura SUVs are available to purchase in six trims: the MDX ($59,300), Tech ($63,300). A-SPEC (66,300), Platinum Elite ($70,300), Type S (80,400), and the Type S Ultra ($84,400).
Engine and Performance
All trims are fitted with standard front-wheel drive and can be upgraded to Acura’s all-wheel drive. The MDX comes equipped with a 3.5-litre 10-speed automatic V6 that kicks out a maximum torque of 267 pound-feet and 290 horsepower. This engine is considerably fast and can reach 100km/h in just 5.7 seconds.
If you’re looking for a bit more speed in your bonnet, you can opt for the Type S, which has a 3.0-litre turbocharged engine capable of producing 354 pound-feet of torque and 355 horsepower. The MDX 3.5-litre four-wheel drive delivers 8km/L in the city and 11km/L on the highway. You can expect approximately 7.2km/L in the city and 8.9km/L on the highway driving the 3.0-litre configuration.
The manufacturer has equipped the Type S model with Acura’s first-ever adaptive air suspension. The suspension can rise 5cm or drop 1.5cm depending on your select drive mode. This allows for a more comfortable and controlled sporty ride on uneven terrain.
Technology and Safety
All models have ample standard safety features, including AcuraWatch, which consists of an emergency braking system, a blind-spot checking system, and a rear-cross traffic warning system.
The dashboard has been upgraded to include advanced tech features. The MDX has dual 31.24cm infotainment touchscreens. The trackpad in the centre console controls one, and the other is a digital gadget cluster. Also included is GPS navigation, wireless mobile phone integration, Amazon Alexa, USB ports in the front and second row, wireless phone charging, and Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities. A nine-speaker sound system is standard in all models, but you can upgrade to an ELS 12-speaker, 16-speaker, or 25-speaker sound system if you wish.
